I recently experienced something profound (yes, truly experienced, not just more head knowledge):
The antidote to stress isn’t more self-care activities. It’s not even different self-care activities.
NO.
The antidote to stress is patience.
Patience requires self-compassion. And self-compassion requires spaciousness and time.
Self-compassion doesn’t fit into the hustle culture timetable. You can’t turn self-compassion into a commodity like we’ve done with self-care.
If you, like I did, have turned self-care into just another checklist of tasks, believing you need to work harder at self-care to make it effective…
Here’s something uncomfortable: The answer isn’t more self-care.
The answer is creating a life of self-compassion.
Your responsibility is to learn how.
