Let’s just name the elephant in the room: recruitment is hard right now.
Finding the right people, the right fit, managing expectations, and keeping your team together — it can feel relentless. I know, because so many of you have been telling me exactly that.
And I hear the deeper layer in what you’re sharing:
“Jo, I had all these financial and lifestyle goals… but they were based on building a team. And I can’t get the team.”
Some of you are experiencing a revolving door of staff — people leaving, ghosting after accepting a job, or just never showing up (one literally left the country!).

So what do we do when hiring isn’t working, but you still need to move your business forward?
I’ve got five practical ways you can boost your revenue without relying on new hires. These are things I’ve done myself or helped others implement — and no, “build a course” is not one of them (because that’s not always quick or easy).
1. Increase Your Prices
This is often the quickest win. A 10% price increase can give you breathing space — and most clients won’t even flinch.
Yes, I know this one can feel uncomfortable, but pricing is one of your most powerful business tools. If you’ve added value, kept up with your professional development, and your calendar is full — it might be time.

2. Create Groups
Group work can multiply your impact without multiplying your hours. You don’t have to be the one running the groups either — train or empower someone on your team to step into that role.
And if no one’s up for it? That’s okay. Keep reading.

3. Hire Out Your Vacant Space
If you’ve got a room sitting idle, don’t default to renting it to another therapist. Think wider.
What about a photographer offering professional headshots? Or a videographer filming content for social media? Your space has value — let it work for you.

4. Earn Affiliate or Collaboration Commissions
This one’s especially for those of you who are well-connected and trusted in your professional circles. Share tools, courses, or services you genuinely believe in — and earn a commission when people sign up through you.
It’s not salesy. It’s smart — and it’s service.

5. Rent Out Therapy Tools or Create Kits
Got specialised therapy tools or equipment gathering dust? Could you rent them out? Or create “therapy tool kits” other clinicians (or even clients) could use?
Think:
- TheraBands
- Braces
- Sensory tools
- Supplements
- Custom rehab or flare-up kits
This model works beautifully in physio and chiro clinics — why not in yours?
