Remember last week when we spoke about how a (delicious) cupcake could you help you get new referrals?

There’s something extra in that, and I want to spend some time exploring it with you today.

Have you ever invested in getting a website built, in the hope that it would help you get more clients?

Maybe paid some guru to do Google Ads or SEO for your business?

Do you blog…. and tweet… and instagram… and pin….

Or are you a bit like the rest of us who feel totally exhausted and overwhelmed by all the ways you SHOULD be marketing yourself, since yesterday!?

Stop.

Breathe.

And don’t spend another cent until you read what you’re about to read:

Your best marketing tool is totally free.

It’s reading this blog right now.

(It’s you.)

Not some tactic. Not some shiny new tool. Not some guru who promises all the new traffic and clients in the world in 30 days or less.

Just little old you.

Now I know a lot of you will be rolling your eyes while you read this – either thinking that this blog was written by captain obvious, or worse, that I’m going to suggest that you put on your best “used-car salesman” outfit and start knocking on people’s doors to sell yourself.

It’s not that at all. It’s just that you’re the best asset your practice has got… and you’re squandering it.

Effective marketing isn’t about selling yourself to anyone with a heartbeat. It’s not about spray-painting the town with sleazy sales messages.

It’s about connection. And trust. And… dare I say it…  authenticity (gasp! Yep, I went there).

You know – the kind of thing you foster in session with your clients, day in, day out?

….The thing you’re already a total powerhouse at?

It’s the exact same thing as marketing. It’s ethical, it’s real, and it’s about connecting you with the people who need what you’ve got.

That’s why the cupcake challenge is so damn effective and fun (and yeah, kinda terrifying): it gets you out of tools and tactics mode and back into what you do best – building relationships.

It gets you implementing and doing the work that will actually get results

Fair warning: there is something I’m going to share with you over the next couple of weeks that will help you start marketing in a way that feels good. I’ll show you a process, and the exact steps I use to help my clients start generating new referrals in the fastest way I know how. Yes, it’s a paid program, and yes… I think it’s exactly what you need if you’re ready for more clients and a marketing strategy you can feel proud of.

More on that soon.

In the meantime – leave a comment for me below: when I say marketing, what do you think and feel? Do you feel indifferent, empowered… or perhaps like you might throw up in your mouth at the mere thought? I’m curious to know where you’re at….

Here’s to your success,

jologo
