Extended DISC Profile & Debrief

See how you work under pressure, and what to do about it.

Extended DISC shows how you’re naturally wired to work, how you’re adjusting at work right now, and how much energy that gap may be quietly costing you.

It’s a behavioural profile. Not a personality test, and not a diagnosis. There’s nothing wrong with you to find.

$600 AUD includes the online questionnaire, your full report, one hour with me on Zoom, and a one-page written summary within 48 hours.

You might recognise this

  • You’re good at what you do, and still finish most days more tired than the work explains.
  • The same friction keeps showing up, often with the same people.
  • Under pressure, you become a version of yourself you don’t especially like. Shorter. Sharper. More controlling, or more withdrawn.
  • You know what you should do. It just doesn’t hold when things get busy.

None of this means something is wrong with you. More often, it means you’ve been working against your natural style for long stretches, without seeing how much that costs.

What is DISC?

DISC describes behaviour, not personality. The letters stand for four broad styles:

  • D – Dominance. Direct, decisive, focused on results.
  • I – Influence. Outgoing, people-focused, energised by ideas.
  • S – Steadiness. Supportive, loyal, focused on stability.
  • C – Compliance (often called Conscientiousness). Careful, analytical, focused on getting it right.

Everyone uses all four. Most of us lean on one or two, especially under pressure. No style is better than another.

What makes Extended DISC different

People don’t fit neatly into four boxes. Extended DISC starts with the four styles and goes much further, so you get a picture of you rather than a label.

It also gives you two profiles:

  • Your natural style: how you’re wired to behave. Not how you think you should be, or want to be.
  • Your adjusted style: how you believe you need to behave at work right now.

Some adjusting is normal, and useful. But the gap between the two is where many of us spend a great deal of cognitive and emotional energy without realising it. You can be very good at your role and still find the effort of doing it this way quietly exhausting.

What that looked like for me

My natural style is strongly D: direct, fast, focused on results. Under pressure, my emails got shorter and shorter, until a one-line email was the clearest sign I was stretched. My team learned to read it, sometimes before I did. I wrote about it in You Can Tell I’m Stressed by the Length of My Emails.

Why I use it

I don’t try to fix weaknesses. I amplify strengths.

I’ve been an accredited Extended DISC consultant since 2009, and I’ve used it exclusively in my rehabilitation work and with my one-to-one coaching clients. In a one-hour debrief, it shows me what might otherwise take around six weeks of getting to know someone.

I use it to help people check that they’re working well: in a way that supports them, and doesn’t wear them down more than the work itself requires. Sometimes that means small changes to how you work. Sometimes it means changing what you expect of yourself. Either way, it starts with seeing the pattern clearly.

How it works

Before we meet

You choose a time from the sessions available in my calendar and answer three short questions, so I arrive knowing a little about your role and what’s happening at work. Within one business day, I’ll send your questionnaire link. It takes about 15 minutes online. Please complete it at least three days before we meet, so I have time to review your report properly. There’s no other preparation.

The hour together

We meet on Zoom for an hour. This isn’t a lecture on DISC theory. We spend the time on you:

  • Your natural style. What comes easily to you, and where you’re at your best.
  • The gap. Where you’re adjusting the most right now, and what that’s costing you in energy.
  • Your pressure pattern. How your style shows up when things get hard, and the early signs you’re sliding into it.

Then we bring it into your real work. A team member you find difficult. A decision you keep putting off. A week that keeps getting away from you.

What you leave with

Within 48 hours, you’ll receive a one-page written summary. Not a recording to sit through. One page you can use, covering:

  • your natural style, in plain language
  • what you’re adjusting to, and what it’s costing you
  • how your pattern shows up under pressure
  • three practical actions for the next 30 days
  • the early warning signs to watch for
  • my honest view on what, if anything, would help next

You also keep your full Extended DISC report.

Who it’s for

Health professionals, practice owners and leaders who are capable, experienced and busy, and who keep noticing the same patterns, especially under pressure.

Usually, money isn’t the biggest pressure. Time is. Capacity is. And the frustrating sense of handling things the same way and expecting a different result.

Who it isn’t for

It isn’t crisis support, and it isn’t therapy. If you’re struggling right now, please speak with your GP or a mental health professional first.

What happens after

Often, nothing more is needed. The profile and the hour are enough to change how you approach things.

For some people, a six-session coaching program, held fortnightly, is a useful next step. If I think it will help you, I’ll say so in your summary. If it won’t, I’ll say that too.

Questions people ask

Is there a right or wrong way to answer?

No. There are no good or bad styles, and you can’t fail it. The most useful thing you can do is answer as you are, not as you think you should be.

How long does the questionnaire take?

About 15 minutes, online, in your own time.

Who sees my report?

You and me. I don’t share your report or summary with anyone else without your permission.

Is the session recorded?

Only with your consent. I use the recording to prepare your written summary. An AI tool helps with the first draft, and I review and edit every word before it reaches you. You can say no at any time, including at the start of the session, and I’ll write your summary from my notes instead.

I’ve done DISC before. Is this still worth it?

Many people have done a DISC profile at a workshop and filed it away. The difference here is the adjusted profile, which shows how you’re adapting to work right now, and an hour spent applying it to your actual situation.

How reliable is Extended DISC?

Extended DISC reports that its assessment has been validated in 112 countries and 98 languages. That’s their figure, not mine. What I can tell you from 17 years of using it is that people recognise themselves in it, quickly.

Can I do this with my team?

Right now, this is a one-to-one session. If you’re thinking about your team or a working pair, get in touch and we can talk about what would help.

How soon can I book?

I keep up to five places a month. Choose a time from the sessions available in my calendar.
